What is this Podcast thing?
A podcast is an audio or video show that you can subscribe to and download to listen to later. It’s kind of like radio that you curate yourself (in fact a lot of radio shows are release later as podcasts). This means you can find your shows and listen to them whenever you want. I listen when I’m cleaning, driving, working, pretty much any time I’m not writing or talking to someone.
How do I subscribe to a podcast?
There’s a couple of ways. The easiest is to go to iTunes, see what they recommend and start clicking “Subscribe”. iTunes takes a while to update its shows, though, and you may want to listen when you’re not sitting at your computer. I use BeyondPod on Android and Overcast FM or Apple’s Podcasts on iOS to listen. All of these have catalogs that you can search through and subscribe to your favorite shows (including ours).
Finally, you can add podcasts to any pod-catcher (that’s what I like to call podcast apps) by copying and pasting the RSS link into the “Add Podcast” field. Every pod-catcher should have one of these. I’ve added buttons with the links below. If you’re on iOS and have the Podcasts app installed, just click the “iTunes Subscription” button below in your browser.
Are you looking for something to listen to? We’ve got you covered. Here at Machine Compatible, we want to provide you with great shows that will keep you entertained and informed. Our first link in that chain is Machine Compatible. MC is a show about the things that we’re passionate about. We’ll keep you up to date on the events of the week and occasionally tell you about something we’re really excited about like books, movies, TV shows, or even comic books.
Andrew hosts Delayed Geekification and Conversations With Myself on a weekly basis. Delayed Geekification is a weekly review of old entertainment. He’ll be covering everything from video games to TV shows to movies to comic books. Conversations With Myself is Andrews outlet to let his mind wander. When he has thoughts on a subject, he’ll talk about them here. Topics include books, sports, technology, movies and tv. All the unimportant things in life.
